[Solved] I don't have this many tuners

Post by mythbackend »

I have a single hdhomerun flex 4k which should have 4 tuners.
But backend shows 12 encoders!
And the setup wizard page shows the correct 4 tuners.

It doesn't seem to hurt anything with the number of shows I end up recording simultaneously .. but I'd still like to fix it!
Anyone know how?

Thanks for any tips!

Details!

http://myhostname.lan:6544/dashboard/status shows soooo many tuners!

Encoder Status
Encoder 1 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 1, Input: 1 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 1
Encoder 2 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 2, Input: 2 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 2
Encoder 3 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 3, Input: 3 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 3
Encoder 4 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 4, Input: 4 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 4
Encoder 5 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 5, Input: 5 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 3
Encoder 6 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 6, Input: 6 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 1
Encoder 7 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 7, Input: 7 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 2
Encoder 8 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 8, Input: 8 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 3
Encoder 9 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 9, Input: 9 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 3
Encoder 10 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 10, Input: 10 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 2
Encoder 11 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 11, Input: 11 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 1
Encoder 12 is on host myhostname, State: Idle
Card: 12, Input: 12 is MPEG2TS, Display Name: Input 4

But the setup page is correct --> http://myhostname.lan:6544/setupwizard/capture-cards

HDHOMERUN 10C23DC5 (Input 2) >

This is normal if you are still on V34. MythTV adds virtual tuners for the case where two or more shows can record at the same time from one tuner. That could be because two channels share a requency or because of recordings one after the oher that have extra minutes at the start or end.

In V35 of MythTV, the backend status page has been fixed so that it does not display the duplicates, but combines their status into the primary tuner, so that it can report that a tuner has several recordings in progress instead of putting them on several tuners.

What version of MythTV are you using?

I'm using v34 - after upgrading ubuntu to the new LTS.
I came from v32 where I remember being able to change the number of virtual turners.

Good to know that its normal.
And good to know that it will be fixed in the next version.. which at my upgrade rate I'll be seeing in 2026!
