Re: Disk Filling up
For use with Myth from the all-in-one OS X installer, change the first line of the script to:
Otherwise, you'll get "ImportError: No module named MythTV" because the bindings are only accessible to the MacPorts-installed version of Python.
Otherwise, works very nicely. Thanks Bill!

Thx Bill, here is the output
I checked free space status using mythweb this morning, and it's down to less than the 50gb minimum I set, so I guess it was not a permission problem. I wonder if Myth is considering both partitions and therefore thinks there is plenty of free space still?

Re: Disk Filling up
Turns out that there's: mythbackend --printexpire too.
But looking at the above, the host/profile/storage group info is missing, but that's probably OK
for now. Typically, the machine's hostname and the MythTV hostname (profile name) are
the same and would match the value in Storage Group and getRecorded list.
OK because all of the autoexpire entries are 0, meaning that they won't
autoexpire. All of mine are 1. It could be that at the time the recordings
above were made, the rules didn't have autoexpire set (which suggests
that it's not set in the default template) Changing rules/templates won't
have any affect on programs already recorded.
You could select each of the 18 programs above and press m, then
add them to the playlist. After that, then select m again and playlist
options and enable auto expire. As opposed to turning on autoexpire
on each of the 70 individual episodes. Or, choose delete from the
playlist.
If the template is now correct, then new rules will be and those programs
should autoexpire. New recordings on 'old' rules that are correct will
autoexpire too.
I truncated the hostname in the output to 8 characters, so macmini. is
misleading. Note that a few of the hostnames are MacMini. suggesting a
hostname change or change in config.xml. I'm not concerned about it
if everything else is working OK.

Re: Disk Filling up
Your screen shot showing "Disk Usage Details" still looks wrong to me. The entry "MythTV Drive 1 Directory macmini:/Users/leejk/.mythtv/channels" should not be there, I believe. That is why I originally asked for a dump of your storage group definitions. I was surprised when it did not show up; I don't understand why it is appearing now.leejk wrote:...I checked free space status using mythweb this morning, and it's down to less than the 50gb minimum I set, so I guess it was not a permission problem. Re: Disk Filling up
Thank you both for your help on this. I think I have figured out the initial problem... mis-configuration of the recording rules. In the storage options for the rule, there was an "x" showing for the "Allow to auto expire?" setting. I never gave this any thought and assumed a value in the box meant it was active, but it's the opposite - you have to toggle it to show a green checkmark.
While that was dumb of me, I am a bit smarter now

Re: Disk Filling up
Interesting, looks to be a theme issue. In Steppes, the box in empty or a checkmark.
Re: Disk Filling up
I have what seems to be a similar set up, my workflow is to:
1) record episodes of a series
2) transcode to mp4
3) transfer to a NAS-based iTunes library
4) watch through the iTunes ecosystem on various devices.
Aside from the issue that you noticed, one of the things that caught me was that I would have episodes continuously rerecording, despite the fact that I'd tried to avoid duplicates in the recording rules. I was being bitten by the fact that if MythTV doesn't think you've watched the episode, and it has "auto-expired" the original recording, it will try to record it again. I've adjusted my script to set the "Watched" flag in the database, and this seems to have addressed the issue, though I'm still testing.
If that helps you out at all, then maybe my karma will be that much better
