I did not see where i need to add the XMLid info. I did add my Schedule Direct info. When i closed the setup i ran the Myth fill database. How can I know check that everything is running ok? Do you have any comments on using Plex as a frontend?

On SchedulesDirect, log in to your account and you can generate a Report of your channels showing the XMLTV ids. Stop the backend and then go into the Channel Editor in Myth-Setup. (You did do a channel scan, right?) Also, in General, there is a page about guide data (maybe the 7th or 8th screen?). You should add '--dd-grab-all' as the argument that will be passed to mythfilldatabase. It will work without this but is now the recommended approach.
Go back to SchedulesDirect and disable the channels you can't receive. You'll probably need to run MythFilldatabase after this and then restart the backend.

I appreciate the thanks. OTOH, the problems you had were just because you missed a step and then tried something that wasn't in the docs (MacPorts wiki page). Given that you've just worked through it, is there anything we could do with the docs to make the process more foolproof for the next guy?

Very good! Why don't you start a new thread. I'm a bit torn about the wiki page. I know it is already long and detailed and the wall of text is probably turning some people off. I've wondered off and on about creating a printable cheat sheet with just the actions that need to be taken. But that is more work to create and then I'd have to update both it and the wiki at the same time as things change. I have been trying to test recording some show. The shows show up in recordings but says it cannot find the file. I am only testing now and haven't set up an external drive so I only defined folders for TV and videos on my user. Could this be the problem? Any leads on where I can look to figure this out. I have been trying to figure this out on my own but I seem to have come to a dead end.

We'll need a backend log from recording a show and a frontend log where you try to play it.
After we get this resolved, you'll want to use a script to cross-check from the database to the recording files to clean up the mismatches. See:

So for my folders, they are as you shown but with an extra folder before TV and yes no spaces. Here is what I believe is the part of a log from the backend when I did a test to record:

One thing I noticed that is strange is that in upcoming recordings all my test show up with (1) and in previous recordings they are there, but with (0). Is this because they did not record, and the (#) is the priority and now 1 because the original missed? The original recordings where all marked s for single.

Bill is correct. Make sure you stop the backend (Myth_Stop_Start) before you go into Myth-Setup to add/fix the storage locations.
Re running Myth on your startup volume, keep in mind that Myth is designed to pretty much FILL the storage available to it with stuff you MIGHT want to watch. There is a setting (can't remember exactly where right at the moment) that tells Myth how much free space it should always reserve. As I recall, it is only a few GB. That's why it is recommended to not use your system disk as the storage location. Bad things can happen if you're adding stuff (say new software) while Myth is recording.

Please describe exactly what happens when you press Play to start playback of a recording and supply a mythfrontend log for that session.

You may have the backend confused (master v. slave status). Did you stop the backend before running mythtv-setup to make this change? Have you restarted the machine since? Do that and if the problem persists, grab the mythbackend log. You need to start a new thread in the Troubleshooting section; this isn't a OS X issue now.sergea29 wrote:...I did change the IPs to my hostname's IP instead of the default 127....
