HDPVR Component Input Looks Terrible

Post by thetuber »

I'm trying to use a Hauppauge HDPVR with the latest MythTV. When I record/watch using the component inputs, the result looks like it's a 256 color picture. The composite input doesn't have this problem. I've attached the two pictures for comparison. I'm pretty sure this used to work. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I've tried on LinHES, the latest MythTV under Ubuntu, and even "cat /dev/video0"; they all have the problem. Thanks in advance.

Two possibilities:

1. This could be caused by your bit rate settings, in Recording Profiles.
2. Or, less likely, it might be due to the bug described under the heading Over-saturation and Color Solution, here: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR .
