Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Anyone have the OSX binary to share? Thanks.
Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Several folks have asked (mostly on the mailing list). No one has volunteered one.
I've been trying to get one built and working and will post if I finally get past the segfault issues.

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
::Update 5/15 - add link to app with some plugins
::Update 5/15 - moved to the "old" sourceforge site
::Update 5/11 - Updated the link to a version that "should" fix the runprefix pathing issues.
Success! I managed to get v31 built and running videos on my case-sensitive system using Xcode 11.3.1.
I have posted .dmg files here with and without plugins here:

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Hmm, thought I already posted this, but...
Excellent work figuring out the blocker. It can be maddening trying to determine which one of a host of possibilities is standing in your way.
Just for greater clarity, could you please post the output of 'mythfrontend --version'?
Thanks,
Craig

:: 5/11 Update, these links are now dead - had the same runprefix issue
If these first link doesn't work for anyone, please try one of these two:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/oupyorffvp0fo ... 3.dmg?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rps36drqo04fr ... 4.dmg?dl=0
These two versions were built on macOS 10.15.4 on a non-case sensitive filesystem with Xcode 11.3.1 and 11.4.1 respectively.

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Sorry, I think you mean Xcode versions 11.3.1 and 11.4.1. AFAICT, Xcode 10.x doesn't run on macOS 10.15.

Other than that quibble, great work!

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
yep, I'll fix it in the post. More coffee needed this AM.
Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
I see it just got posted on sourceforge (link fixed) at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mythtv ... g/download
Thanks to all
It's running for me but, is there a problem with the dmg file?
I dragged it to my Applications folder to try and install it but I just end up with an alias to the mounted dmg file.

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Thanks for posting the link above - I missed this site on my rounds. Here's an actual hyperlink for it:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mythtv ... g/download
That's a strange issue. I managed to drag and drop to the Applications folder on the build VM and my laptop without issue. Maybe try copy and paste?

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Yeah I tried again, and the drag and drop just creates a link in the Applications folder.
If I manually copy it from the mounted dmg at /Volumes/MythFrontend-31-intel-10.13.6-v31-ce23a0225f/Mythfrontend.app to anywhere, when I run that it crashes (segfaults).
I'll just leave the dmg mounted and use that for now.
Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
You have to open a Finder window showing the contents of the dmg. If you right-click on the MythFrontend application, you should be able to choose Get Info and it will tell you that the Kind is Application, etc. This will confirm you've got the right thing. Dismiss that window and then drag and drop that icon into your Applications folder. You should be presented with the dialog asking for your password to allow modification of the destination folder. Enter it and then it should spend a few moments actually copying the contents of the app.
Take a screenshot with Grab if you have problems.

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
BTW, the regular cp command (is that what you tried?) won't work. A macOS application is a special kind of folder (directory) containing numerous files that make up the application.

Re: Looking for OSX MythTV 31 frontend pre-built binary
Yeah, I know I used this for the cp:
Code: Select all
cp -pr /Volumes/MythFrontend-31-intel-10.13.6-v31-ce23a0225f/Mythfrontend.app ~/tmp
Anyway, I drag-and-dropped the opened .dmg to my local ~/Applications directory instead of the global /Applications, and it copied the files over and I can run it from there without issues.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
