Mythtv 31 - video playback not working

This is a fresh install of mythtv 31 on xubuntu 18.04. One box running both backend and frontend. Graphics is Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE (no proprietary drivers available, so none installed.)

On playback for both recordings and live TV the display is a blank green screen, the audio works fine.

I was able to play recorded files (.ts files) fine on the same box using the vlc player.

Any recommendations on how to get the video working? Thanks

I don't have Nvidia anymore, but check Setup->Video->Playback->Current Video Playback Profile.
I assume you want one of the VDPAU profiles.

Try: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/2019-render as there were massive rendering changes.

I'm running master (tagged v31-Pre) on mythbuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 19.04 and 19.10 with
OpenGL High Quality right now.
