Myth Backend Won't Start

Post by grayman001 »

Hi,

I just recently upgraded to version 10.13.6 on my Mac Mini and now Myth Backend won't start. It has been running flawlessly for a couple of years without any issues. I am using the previous macports installer by craig.

Is there somewhere I can go to dig up the logs?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Assuming you are running version 0.28, the logs should be under:

/opt/dvr/var/log/mythtv.28

A new file is created each time mythbackend tries to run.

BTW, have you waited 10 minutes? For a lot of people, on a fresh reboot, mythbackend fails to start the first time it tries to launch as something (networking?) isn't ready. The OS will automatically try again within 10 minutes and, for most people affected, away it goes.

That seems to be a mythtv-setup log. Please post the most recent mythbackend log.

If you use Myth_Stop_Start to (well) stop and start the backend, does that work OK?

Yeah that’s all good. Not sure why it played up. All good now though. Thank you :)
