I'm setting up mythbuntu after windows media centre is no longer available. I an new to linux.
There was an problem with the way I set up the capture cards so I selected delete cards and started again. Now instead of cards 0,1,2,3 It is showing as cards 4,5,6,7 which are not available. How do I delete all the card info so that the card counter begins at 0 again?
Thanks
Bruce

Re: Capture cards
Hi,
I think you deleted capture cards on this host, not all capture cards.
In any case, it's harmless to have the 4-7 set. In the DB, the card
number is auto-incrementing (mine are in the 20-30s.) Long ago,
there was an issue with this.

Re: Capture cards
The cards don't show any information about them and they won't scan for channels. When I close the backend set up I get a message saying the cards arent available
Re: Capture cards
Before running mythtv-setup make sure mythbackend is not running, mythtv-setup on some systems does not always shutdown mythbackend. mythtv-setup requires exclusive access to the Capture Cards.
For modern systems using systemd e.g. *Ubuntu 16.04/18.04, Debian Stretch/Buster etc. the sure way is to use in a terminal session systemctl commands to control mythbackend, so to use mythtv-setup:
sudo systemctl stop mythtv-backend
mythtv-setup
sudo systemctl start mythtv-backend
Note mythbackend is automatically started on system powerup or reboot.
