I am now running MythTV 0.28 from Craig's MacPorts and have noticed that the Apple remote is not working properly. I have paired the remote (ie. the link symbol appeared on the Mac) but the up and down buttons don't work on the menus. The menu button and back button (as well as the left and right buttons) do work. Has only else experienced this issue?
Has anyone used MythControlled on their OSX build? I will pay the money if it works but don't want to shell out to find I have wasted my money.

Apple Remote not working with 0.28
Re: Apple Remote not working with 0.28
Hmm, what model of Mac are you running this on? Is this a virtualized machine?
If you enter 'mythfrontend --version', does the output include "using_appleremote"?
I don't know what "MythControlled" is (link?) but there was an old iOS app that used to work. Called RemoteRemote if I remember right. Not all that convenient since the phone needed to be woken up before you could do anything.

Re: Apple Remote not working with 0.28
Hmm, it could be because you paired the remote. As I recall, pairing causes the remote to modify the codes it is emitting. Something like, if "01" is the play command when unpaired, then it uses "101" or "201" for the same button when paired. Each emitter-receiver pair gets a different prefix.
Maybe unpair and test again?

Re: Apple Remote not working with 0.28
Hi Craig,
I have unpaired the remote and tried again. The up and down buttons no longer work. I also tried it on another Mac and found the same problem. I have tried reseting the Apple Remote and even removed the battery and waited. I have also tried it with another Apple Remote and have the same issue.
Any ideas what I can try next?

Re: Apple Remote not working with 0.28
The issue is not with MythTV - it is with High Sierra!
I tried remapping the keys on two different Macs and the up and down keys on the remote no longer respond.
It is a documented bug in High Sierra - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8106033
The only solution I could think of is to get a MythTV remote app for an iPhone and use the network remote protocol.

Re: Apple Remote not working with 0.28
You say "bug" but a posting in that thread says that Apple changed the specs and that some other app developers have released patches that successfully address the issue (see p. 2 of the thread).
If that is the case, we need someone to look up the Apple IR documentation on the dev website and find out what needs to be changed. After that it hopefully shouldn't be too hard to update Myth:
https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/m ... e.cpp#L203
and
https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/m ... leRemote.h
@tvdave, do you have time to splunk through Apple's docs?
