Save .nfo files(containing epg data) next to recordings

Post by g444 »

Hi,

i think it would be useful(in case your database fails and you have no backup or you just want to access recordings directly) if mythtv would save .nfo files next to the recordings(e.g. 12345678.mpg and 12345678.nfo.
These .nfo files contain all the epg data. These files are not read by mythtv, they are only written in case you want to recover/read your recordings without a database. If they are formatted so kodi/xbmc can read it you could also use kodi to access your recordings: http://kodi.wiki/view/NFO_files

(Of course, this feature could also be implemented as a script, maybe someone could modify mythlink.pl or some other script to do this? But these scripts seem to become outdated/incompatible easily).

Yes there are scripts for this, but most i found do too much imo and i don't really trust unofficial scripts. The only one suitable seems this one, but i guess it wouldn't create kodi-compatible files and it doesn't work anymore: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Createnfos.py
