Move files in video library

Post by 7even »

Hi,

MediaPortal had a small but cool feature to move files within the video library from one folder to another.
This was a simple menu entry "Move" which applied to the currently selected file. This entry changed to "Paste here" afterwards.

Little feature, huge improvement ... ;-)

Would love to see this in Myth!

This is a great idea and not very difficult to implement!

It's complicated by the fact that we don't actually display the filesystem structure, but rather we display a metadata-generated view that happens to mirror the fileystem structure. This ability would have to be disabled when using other metadata generated views, or would involve a whole lot more programming if it were to become a means of manipulating the metadata, besides the current direct entry, in the other views.

I think no one would complain if this feature would only be available in the file system emulated view. This also makes kind of sense for intuitive usage - if this would be displayed in a view grouped by some metadata like e. g. artist this would be confusing.
