Submission Guidelines - Read this first

If you've got an idea for a feature that you'd like to see implemented here's some guidelines for submitting it:
  • Before anything else, check the release notes for the latest version of MythTV to make sure it's not already in there (yes, this happens).
  • Make sure you are not repeating a previous suggestion. (Search this forum)
  • Be very clear about how you envision your idea working. The more details your suggestion has the better it will be.Consider doing some research first; e.g. If you're suggesting integration with a service then does that service have an API or library that MythTV can use? Provide links.
  • Be prepared to work with a programmer, themer or artist to achieve your goal. You may not have all the necessary skills to do all the work yourself but you can still help to test the changes during their development or by doing research. Your suggestion has more chance of being seen through to completion if you contribute to the work involved.
  • Suggestions from people who have contributed back to the project in some way carry a lot more weight. Consider helping out and making yourself known to the community first.
  • Do not be offended if a developer tells you that your suggestion isn't feasible for some reason.
  • Do not make suggestions for features that would break the law, may aide breaking the law or which violate the Terms and Conditions of service providers. This includes piracy, bittorrent and other file sharing platforms where content is predominantly illegal and use of software cams which are widely used to steal cable/satellite.
