It will be great to have a video conferencing plugin in MythTV.
With a cheap webcam and microphone it will works great. If you add the feature to decode/encode HD video stream by hardware, (VDPAU/VAAPI) would be perfect!
Just an idea.
Regards.

Re: Video conferencing plugin
There was a plugin that implemented a SIP video telephone called MythPhone. Asterisk has an experimental video conferencing feature. Maybe someone wants to revive this feature.

I found this code: https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... l-branches
It will be great to have a SIP or XMPP plugin. Would it be possible to add the old code to github? I am not developer and I am not so good with coding, but maybe people could help if it is available.
Kind regards.
Re: Video conferencing plugin
The code is available on Github. You just have to go far enough back.
https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/tree/f ... /mythphone
Considering the UI would have to be completely rewritten, it would probably be best to simply start from scratch anyway.

Re: Video conferencing plugin
Others suggested that it may be easier to just add a MythTV frontend to an existing real time communication framework over at the old wiki. And that they are working on it.
