How to get a theme in the theme chooser repo

I've modified and created a couple of themes for 14 channel x 4 hour program guides and and have installed them in my systems ~/.mythtv/themes directories so they are available to my users, but would like for these to be available to all users. But I don't know where or to who to submit them. So where can I upload them for inclusion in the downloaded themes?

You will have to make your theme available somewhere where our packaging script can check for updates and package it for use with the theme chooser. Making it available on Github is OK. Ideally you would have a master branch and also one for any fixes version you want to support.

Since you are just rehashing someone else's theme it would be polite to ask them if they are happy with you doing this first.

I emailed the original themes maintainer and never got a response. Since the mythbuntu distro has been discontinued for a couple of years now I assume no one cares. I'm really surprised that someone hadn't bought out a theme with more than a 7 channel program guide already. Before they went to themes, one could select the amount of channels they wanted in setup which worked fine for me. When they went to themes, the first thing I did was modify one of them for more channels. That was so long ago I don't even remember which one it was. Maybe the retro theme. I chose the mythbutu theme because at the time I used the mythbuntu distros on my frontends, while still using the old Mandrake as my master backend. Anyway I have since setup a github rrepo for the theme and I was finally contacted by someone in the mailing list that said they could get it add to the theme chooser script. I guess time will tell if that happens. I also sent the Monochrome author an upgrade to the 14x4 guide, but he wasn't interested. At least he did respond.
Anyone interested in an expanded guide and not having to scroll main menus to see the options in them can get the theme here before if ever it gets into the chooser.

If you have at least tried to contact them then that's fine, they have nothing to complain about. I know Thomas who maintains the Mythbuntu themes is still about, he also maintains the Ubuntu packages, but I believe like many of the original devs he no longer uses MythTV so probably has little interest or time for the theme.

I know from experience that you can't assume what you want from a theme is what everyone wants. If it was we wouldn't need themes :) Having different themes to choose from can only be a good thing IMHO.

I see you are now in contact with Mike on the theming list if he doesn't get it sorted for you ping me and I will see if I can get someone on IRC with the necessary access to the server to get it sorted.

OK. Thanks. I'll give it a week or 2 and if nothing happens I'll let you know. In the mean time I added to the wiki themes, so people can get to it from there. Although I'm not sure how many people even use the wiki.
