model B+ just not enough for Frontend?

Post by Marcus Aurelius »

I've lately been tinkering with an old RPi that I purchased back a few years ago. It's got a revision code 10, which identifies it as a Model B+ from Q3 2014, and it has a whopping 512MB of RAM. I loaded Raspbian Stretch on it and installed MythTV Light. And it works. Sort of. The most consistent issue is audio. I'm attempting to output to the TV via HDMI. I've played with the audio settings and messed with the performance options within Raspbian, hoping that increasing the amount of RAM allocated for video and overclocking would help. No audio, slow frame rate, and frequent lockups is what I've got at the moment. Suggestions? Or should I just get a model 3?

We only support model 2 and up. I have never tested on anything less than model 2 and I do not know whet the problems would be. I believe there is likely insufficient memory and processing power in earlier models.

You can always install LibreElec and use the MythTV PVR add-on. This works fairly well.
