Raspberry Pi 4 mythfrontend working well?
Raspberry Pi 4 mythfrontend working well?
I want to know how well Rasp Pi 4 4GB is working with mythfrontend. I primarily use it to watch HD TV recordings. I think $60 is a damn good price for it. Also if not Rasp Pi 4, then what other alternatives for a nice mythfrontend on the cheap?

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 mythfrontend working well?
IMHO, the RPi4 is an okay frontend for the price but not the best deal.
Disclaimer: My recordings are all USA ATSC OTA HD mpeg2.
If you just need a FE, then FireTV 4K is the better quality than the RPi4 running mythfrontend. Plus the FireTV 4k can also run Leanfront mythtv which is the best.
I always look for Amazon to run a deal and catch the FIreTV 4k at $25. I also use the Ethernet cable adapter which adds $15.
However if you need a FE/BE combination then the RPi4 works very well as a backend with a good frontend capability. I have tested many combinations particularly since we've all been quarantined, nothing else to do. At this point to build a combo I'd use v30. Backend only V31.
I find the RPi3B+ running LibreELEC/Kodi 18.6 with the kodi-pvr-mythtv plugin is a very food FE if you can put up with the Kodi interface.
If all my mythtv equipment died today, and I had to spend money to get up and running I'd use the following:
1. RPi4 4GB with a USB-SATA adapter and a 2GB SSD as a backend
2. HDHR Quatro as a tuner
3. FireTV 4K as a frontend.
