Has anybody succeeded to run a mythfrontend on a Banana Pi M2+?
The hardware allows playback of HEVC streams (e.g. DVB-T2 in Germany) as successfully tried with vlc3.0 beta. However, the OS (Ubuntu Mate 16.04) seems to be a rather low quality hack. mythfrontend is missing a libopenmaxil.so. This lib seems to be Raspberry Pi only and the OS is probably not correctly migrated from Raspberry to Banana Pi.
Sorry, if this may be off-topic. Any better place to look for help?

I did not have an answer, but I'm very interested in what you find out.
I'm searching for a lightweight client with the capabilities to play content at a 4K TV in order to replace my old atom frontends.

MythTV has support for openmax decoding and rendering on the Raspberry Pi. Probably the Banana Pi does not support openmax, so it is not likely to work.

I run mythtv version 0.28 on two devices. First in lxc container on Turris router and second on Odroid Home Cloud One.
Question is Why should these devices support that library ? This is insane.

Did you try running configure with --disable-openmax?

Actually I decided to start compilation process with 2 more switches:
--disable-vaapi --disable-vdpau --disable-omx-rpi
edited in config file:
../packaging/deb/debian/rules
where --disable-omx-rpi was replaced with newer --disable-openmax switch.
I did mistake and instead creating local repo for compiled deb packages (on the bottom of instruction page) I installed packages manually by using "dpkg". However after passing this tricky part when system complained about missing dependencies it is working now and I am enjoying upgraded PVR system to version 0.29.

Can we get separate repository for NON Raspberry based boards?
For example Odroid Home Cloud One is able to handle 3 dvb-t tuners in cheap USB 2.0 hub and it has much more cpu processing for transcoding what I am testing now. To be concrete I am testing "transcode-h264.py" and "transcode-h264-v2.py" scripts found somewhere on https://www.mythtv.org/.
