There are links that take you to a login screen, with no option to register which contradicts the info found at:
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Main_Page
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Wiki_Quick_Start
P.S. The mailing list archive link on the main wiki page is outdated, should probably be one of these, probably the latter:
http://lists.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/
https://lists.archive.carbon60.com/mythtv/users/

Re: How does one get wiki access?
Unfortunately the register option was removed due to spammers. What has happened in the past is that the admin who dealt with the MythTV infrastructure would temporarily re-enable it to allow registration. He has now taken a back seat due to real life.

I've now changed that URL to point to http://lists.mythtv.org/pipermail/
If you think that's wrong please let me know.

Re: How does one get wiki access?
Thanks.
The carbon60 link has a search box, which is a huge plus IMO. Its 'subscribe to digest' button is borked, but I suspect most users would use search a lot more than digest.
P.S. I wonder if these were considered (never installed/used them as admin, but I've known sites that required new account approval) :

Re: How does one get wiki access?/Main page link wrong.
Yes, agree with the carbon60 link. Although I'm not keen on relying on a third party (Carbon60). I think I'd prefer sticking with the MythTV link. I seem to remember a while ago having to change gossamerthreads links to carbon60 links which was a pain.white_haired_uncle wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 1:51 pmThanks.

Any thoughts on this?

Re: How does one get wiki access?
My preference would be to use carbon60 archives because I always found them easier to use and search. Or maybe give both options and allow the user to choose which one they prefer?
Regarding wiki spam. I know both Stuart M. and Stuart A. have in the past tried different methods to prevent it but it is always a battle that the spammers always seem to win. If we had plenty of developers and/or moderators willing to monitor it 24/7 then you have a fighting chance to keep on top of it but unfortunately we don't.
It's quite possible that available wiki extensions have improved since we last tried them and we probably should try again but as Steve pointed out we don't really have a admin for the server any more which is a problem. If anyone has experience of maintaining a wiki and manages to prevent any spam then any advice on how best to set it up would be useful.

Re: How does one get wiki access?
What worked for me was to find User creation log and send an email to the 2 accounts that appear to have administrative powers that can add users. I may have searched other places to find those email addresses.
