DVD Plays some DVDs but not Others

hi there.

Having a few issues playing some DVDs on my myth Box. Some DVDs work fine, others come up with an error saying it is unable to open /dev/dvd. It almost seems some codec related problem? VLC play the "non playing" DVDs fine out of Myth Front End. All the DVDs I'm trying are commercially produced ie, not home made. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Try this:

In Mythfrontend navigate to Setup > Media settings > Videos Settings > Player Settings and change the DVD Drive value from /dev/dvd to:

default (/dev/sr0 may also work)

Ah thanks.. I had changed it to /dev/sr0 but hadn't tried "default". The region was not setup so set that and played 2 random DVDs with no problems last night with no problems so its looking good. If it's still playing up I'll try "default"
