Wiki: Periodic_Maintenance

Post by white_haired_uncle »

https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual ... aintenance

In the section "The database", there is a link to https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Silicondust ... end_reboot.

1) There's no such section. Probably refers to https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Silicondust ... tem_reboot

2) I can't see where anything on that page about the HDHR has anything at all to do with backing up the database.

In the section "Optimize the Database", there is a reference to /usr/share/doc/mythtv-backend/contrib/maintenance, which is correct on my (v33.1) system, but then the two examples use /usr/share/doc/mythtv-docs-0.21/contrib/, which, even accounting for version, points to "-docs", not "-backend", and omits "maintenance".

thanks for pointing out that bad link. I have corrected it and also added a note for those without homerun.

Now you may only wish to flush out those ghost recordings and the override file is a good way to do it if your backend is regularly stopped and started (eg with Mythwelcome).
As well as that I also want to check that my tuner is available, that the network is up and to reboot the tuner as a precaution because of problems I've had.
The override mechanism does this but your backendpre.sh file can be much simpler.
Please say whether you find the changes I've made are helpful and/or suggest improvement (or have a go at editing the periodic maintenance page yourself).
