Using Ubuntu 20.4.
My system no longer schedules recording after performing the nightly schedule download. I think it is a permission problem most likely when it restarts the backend, I am not experienced enough to track these type of things down.
Each morning using MythWeb I examine:
Upcoming Recordings - empty list
Recording Schedules - non-empty
Listings - very colorful, not empty
Eventually I found entering a command terminal and executing "systemctl restart mythtv-backend" will lead to "Upcoming Recordings" being filled in properly. I have run that command with sudo previously and things work fine and that works fine too but I thought I would see if it works without sudo in case that is what made it work. When running the systemctl command without sudo it still worked but I was prompted:
==== AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.systemd1.manage-units ===
Authentication is required to restart 'mythtv-backend.service'.
Authenticating as: j-root,,, (j-root)
Password:
in case it helps
> groups j-root (my admin acct)
j-root : j-root adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin lxd sambashare mythtv
> groups mythtv
mythtv : mythtv dialout cdrom audio video
Thanks in advance for any help and ideas!

Re: Mythbackend not running properly after nightly listings grab
Any new thoughts here?
Re: Mythbackend not running properly after nightly listings grab
That does not appear to be the latest. I would add the Mythbuntu PPA. Recently, running mythbackend --version output:
mythbackend --version
