MythWeb: Channel edits have no effect

Post by danielwlewis »

I just installed MythTV v31 yesterday, but I have been using MythTV for several years. Today I noticed that trying to change which channels are visible via MythWeb has no effect. After unticking several channels and clicking submit, the screen refreshes with those same channels checked and they still appear in the guide.

There are about 500 channels listed (partly due to the fact that Comcast lists some channels under more than one channel number in order to provide groupings by content). Could it be that there are too many channels for MythWeb to be able to handle the edits?

Thanks!

Updating mythtv v31/fixes and mythweb to the latest version available might just solve this.

'Sorry, although updating made the "Remove Duplicates" option appear, it did not correct the separate problem with MythWeb.

Tried that with no luck. First with 10000, then with 15000. Sigh....

BTW: I did reboot after each change to be sure the webserver was using the modified configuration file.

trying to change which channels are visible
Consider using Backend Setup (mythtv-setup) instead. In the channel editor, unselect visible for the unwanted channels.

I would, but with probably 200-300 to be removed, and 3 keystrokes per removal, I’d rather find another solution. 🙂

Channels deleted with the Channel Editor are marked for deletion. The actual deletion is done later by a housekeeping task after checking that the channel is not used, i.e. that there are no recordings from that channel still in the database.

MythWeb should not display channels that are marked for deletion but it did until Feb 19 when this has been fixed in commit e020a3ef5e157855960d41914c7a00214f4a2e27 'Tweak mythweb to not display "deleted" channels.'.
If you update MythWeb to the latest available then it should work.

Might this help?
It reads your backend, lists the channels or multiplexes, highlights duplicates, shows channels with many sort options, does bulk hide or deletes.
Try it with demo mode first to get a feel for it.
