"No Recordings available, or screen loading..."

Post by chuck837 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 1:14 am

A similar question is on the forum. There has not been much response to it. I am getting a blank screen when I try to watch a video with the notice "No Recordings available, or screen loading..." MY thought is to delete would be to either delete the Mythtv program and then reinstall. This is a pain because of the issues setting it up and getting everything to work. A second option I think, would be to delete the mythconverg files and backup and then do a reinstall. Is there a chance the second option would just install the mythconverg files with a myth reinstall? Other issues anyone would know? I don't have a backup of the database and never realized it needed to be cleaned up occasionally. After 5 years and up myth updates it finally quit working.
So does anyone have any suggestions? Options?

Could just be that the mythbackend server is not running.
I would guess some update changed or broke some configuration or required component..

You could check using some system log or "top" or something similar to below...
ps -AH | grep myth

*buntu 18.04 or later:
journalctl -xe
sudo systemctl status mythbackend.service

or *buntu 14.04 & older:
logs in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend*.log
initctl status mythtv-backend

Auto-completion of commands should allow you to just type "myth" & <tab> just in case the service names are different.

You mean "Watch Recordings?" Did you see my solution here?

viewtopic.php?f=36&t=3558&p=17089#p17089

Just change group filter to any other group, then back to default if desired.

Obviously doesn't identify root cause, but it got it working again for me.
