On a frontend only system, playback of recordings works, but videos do not. I can see all the videos and it appears to match what is available on my main frontend (also the master backend). Videos work on the main frontend.
It's a rarely used frontend so I'm not sure when it stopped working. I had a drive fail a SMART test that I replaced a few months ago. I double checked and I have video groups set to the correct folders in mythtv-setup on the master backend. Recordings work so I think that I have the database set up correctly. I have a feeling like there is something obvious that I have forgotten to check.
Debian stable with 0.27.3 packages from deb-multimedia.org wheezy-backports.

Trying to do too many things at once this morning. I tried to connect to the backend through mysql and it threw up an error. I'll post more later when I'm back home.

Did you specify a hostname in mythtv-setup where it asks for the IP address of the backend?

Local and master backend IPs are the same and correct (IPv4 LAN addresses).
IPv6 address is just "::" in the settings.

That's not a real address. It's not localhost (::1), so it's trying to use it instead of the IPv4 address, and failing.

This worked. Thanks a lot! Not sure when it got changed, must have been an accidental change because ::1 was in the pull down list.
I tried entering the actual IPV6 address in here instead but the videos still didn't work. Would I need to change the IPV4 address to 127.0.0.1 if I wanted to use IPV6? Just curious why that didn't work.

If a network-accessible IPv6 address is defined, MythTV will prefer that. If a network-accessible IPv4 address is defined, but only IPv6 localhost, it will prefer IPv4.
