setting locale & guide information
My mythtv setup seems to be stuck in en_GB for locale which isnt correct for me. Im wondering if thats why mythfilldatabase doesnt get my guide listings in. It is playing tv though and mythweb is working as well.
Re: setting locale & guide information
I'd try: sudo --set-home --login --user=mythtv locale to see what user mythtv
is set to. Assumes the backend runs as user mythtv. Or, you can just type
locale as yourself which is probably the same. For *buntu, I'd look in /etc/default/locale.

Re: setting locale & guide information
It all shows the right country. Upon closer inpsection it was the QT library that defaults to en_GB.

So I guess then whats the trick to getting the guide to download? mythfilldatabase has
2019-10-03 18:44:18.272945 I XMLTV config file is: /home/pi/.mythtv/video.xmltv
2019-10-03 18:44:19.672695 E FillData: XMLTV grabber returned error code 2
in the logs
and I dont seem to have anything in that file, or it created. what goes in there?

Re: setting locale & guide information
It's not a Qt default, MythTV is setting the Qt default to the desired value, I'll assume you
want en_CA. I don't have a Pi with MythTV on it so won't help much. If there's a full
MFDB log, see if there's a line complaining about LANG not being set. You can set LANG in
if required. I don't expect that to be the cause of the guide issue.
Sounds like you're using tv_grab_zz_sdjson_sqlite and that you have a source
named "video", thus the video.xmltv filename.
The file gets created when you go through: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/XMLTV#Setup ... son_sqlite
See if there's a ~mythtv/.mythtv/video.xmltv file (assuming the backend runs
as user mythtv.) That's used when the backend runs MFDB, not when you run it
as your user unless it's the same. Just need more detail, maybe a Pi user can chime
in here.
To answer your question about the contents of the file, mine looks like:

Re: setting locale & guide information
I've got a trial account with schedules direct and did the steps above. It is now working!
Somehow i got the idea listings were freely available....but It seems not.
Thanks
