Resolved: Mythtv-light on a PI2 - libcec3 and 4

Post by dualboot »

Hi All,
I've dug out my PI 2 and attempted to install mythtv-light following https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythTV_Light

I upgraded from wheezy to jessie by editing the /etc/apt/sources.list file replacing wheezy with jessie then apt-get update/upgrade/dist-upgrade

This all seemed to go OK.

Then installing mythtv-light I get:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo apt-get install mythtv-light
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mythtv-light : Depends: libcec3 but it is not installable or
libcec4 but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
a bit of research suggests someone else has solved this with
Deb Multimedia Jessie-Backports repo

I'm not sure exactly what I need to do here, and I suspect I could mess it up.

Can anyone help with exactly what I need to do to get this working?

Upgrading your operating system involves more than just changing apt sources. I always install on a new partition or sd card when upgrading operating system, on raspberry pi as well as desktop computers. What you did to fix it was exactly the correct action.
