Streaming .asx files to VLC

Post by mythfreak »

When at work I like to stream shows from my mythbackend (0.27) on Ubuntu 14.04 and I use VLC 2.16. It works great except on growing files. I've searched the net and couldn't find anything solution wise. The problem is is when VLC opens the stream it get's the EOF info and doesn't refresh that until it plays to the end, then I have to re-open the file. There is no timecode track so I really don't have a way to know where I left off.

Is there a workaround or/fix to this? If there is a fix for this, then I'd upgrade OS, mythtv and/or VLC if need be.
Also .. should my recordings have a time code or timer track/stream?

So I tried going to JW Player route without any success. Seems to be a pathing issue. Would I be better off creating a flash transoder or even upgrading to .28 with webfrontend. The only clips that I really ever stream while at work are baseball games so it's not like I need every clip to be transcoded with my current situation.
Any advice would be appreciated.
