TV viewing is not working

I am not able to get TV viewing to work. SchedulesDirect Scheduling information also will not populate. When I leave backend set up I get an error that says Card 4(type MPEG2TS) is set to start on channel 0, which does not exist. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I played with it for a while and the TV is working very well now but the program guide is not populating. Apparently the issue was I was starting the channels from number 0 which did not exist. Any ideas on how to get the program guide to populate?

in backend setup, check that your video source is configured correctly, then make sure your video source is assigned to your tuner(s) in input connections, and run a channel scan. for instructions check here https://docs.google.com/document/d/19kn ... nyshowwo62

OK. But TV viewing is working fine. It would seem that the tuners are set properly. Do I misunderstand what you are suggesting?

video sources provide guide data. then input connections assigns guide data to channels found on your tuner(s). what i was suggesting is to go back over those sections to make sure it's configured correctly and guide data is assigned to the tuners. channel scan may or may not be needed.
Mythfilldatabase lists 2 video sources, do you have separate tuners for cable and ota? if you have multiple tuners but they all connect to the same source(ie cable or ota) you only need one video source to provide the guide data.

I did what you said and it populated the listings on the second attempt. I think I may know what is causing it. When I start Mythfrontend there is a large error message that says that it cannot communicate with mythbackend. I then have to open a terminal and start mythbackend to make the error message go away. I have not been starting mythfilldatabase when I do this but I did it the second time and the listings were populated. Seems like I do not have both of these programs set to automatically start. Is there a setting I should set?

the backend should automatically start at boot, when it's configured correctly.
run this in a terminal

Code: Select all

sudo cat /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log | grep error
this will list any errors the backend is longing

there should be more to that if you scroll up. try running

Code: Select all

systemctl status mythtv-backend.service
it should have an error in the output. in backend setup>general check that the local backend ipv4 address and the master backend ip address match.
