Tuned channel scan fails to find channels, Full scan works

Post by andypevy »

Hi,

I have a problem with tuning a freshly installed Mythtv 0.27 runing on Fedora 20.

I live almost exactly between Crystal Palace and Hannington transmitters so when I do
a full scan I get lots of duplicate channels from the 2 transmitters. Han from the front
of the aerial and CP off the back. I am line of sight to both transmitters so the signal level
is very good.

However, if I try to manually tune to Hanington (The transmitter I want to use) I get
'No Lock' and then 'Failed to find new channels' and 'Timed out, no signal'. This happens
on all the published frequencies for both transmitters.

There are obviously signals there as the full scan finds them.

I have manually stopped the backend server so the tuners should be free to be used by mythtv-setup.

I have looked through the forums but failed to find anything relevant.

Any ideas as to how I can get the Full Scan (Tuned) to work please ??.

Thanks,
Andy Pevy

Blooming typical, just after I posted this question I had a thought.

When you go into the Full Scan (Tuned) page, all of the fields apart from the required frequency are
set to Auto.

I looked up the details from an old w_scan and filled in as many of the fields
as I could, and it now locks onto the channel and tunes and decodes data as required.

I have now done a tune to all the Hanington frequencies and I have no conflicting
channels to sort out.

My wife will now hopefully stop complaining

Hope this helps somebody else.

Andy
