Just as a note I think I may have solved juddering or jumping playback of recordings.
There seemed to be no pattern, I initially thought the transmission from the tower to my aerial was faulty but I could rewind and re watch a part of a recording that was jumping and it will be smooth. This has happened on LinHES and Mythbuntu and I think I may have found the solution.
In the settings I have set the delete recordings method to slow. I think the option was "Delete recordings slowly". I didn't think it would make a difference as I assumed delete was done in an instant. But since setting that option I have not had any playback performance issues in 3 days (it would normally happen at least twice a night)
