The other day I came across an encoder device that takes in an HDMI input ( w/ HDCP ) that encodes to h.264 in an mpeg-ts and makes it available thru a built in web server. ( http://www.oupree.com/OPR-NH100-1-Chann ... coder.html) . Overall the picture quality seem rather good ( not perfect ) but with a bit of tweaking it seems on par w/ my HDPVR. I've gotten video to play using mythavtest and vlc ( using the http stream ).
Has anyone played with this as a video source for Mythtv recording?

Based on the config pages, it seems to be using only 2-channel, matrixed audio. So the best you can get out of it is 5.1 compressed channels. This is a non-starter for me.
