Hauppauge WinTV-MiniStick HD

Post by jlazkano »

Hello,

I have a "Hauppauge WinTV-MiniStick HD" DVB-T USB device in the backend. The problem is that sometimes I get this in the system logs:

Code: Select all

# dmesg
...
[324959.255016] smsusb_onresponse: line: 118: error, urb status -71, 0 bytes
[324959.265507] smsusb_onresponse: line: 118: error, urb status -71, 0 bytes
[324959.275631] smsusb_onresponse: line: 118: error, urb status -71, 0 bytes
[324959.285752] smsusb_onresponse: line: 118: error, urb status -71, 0 bytes
[324959.295760] smsusb_onresponse: line: 118: error, urb status -71, 0 bytes
When it happens, I must reboot the backend.

I try to search in the web about this problem, but I have not found any information.

The OS is Debian Wheezy (3.2.0-4-amd64) with deb-multimedia.org repository. With this firmware: http://www.steventoth.net/linux/sms1xxx ... dvbt-02.fw

Is this a hardware problem? or software/driver/firmware problem?

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards.

Does "modprobe -r smsusb" and "modprobe smsusb" clear the problem rather than rebooting?

Thanks for the reply. I will try it the next time it happens.

But I want to understand the reason of the problem. It use to work well for 2 or 3 weeks, and then it fails, with no reason.

Regards.

If I had to guess memory leak in the driver that exasperates itself over time. I don't think it's a hardware problem unless you're using older USB 1.1 ports, but I don't believe you stick would work at that point.
