Telestar Digibit Twin SAT/IP show signal strenth

Post by jksj »

Recently experiencing some reception issues (might be due to a spell of cold weather), the occasional visible glitch which is bad enough for Leanfrontend to stop showing video, sound continues.
Jumping forward resolves.
Would like to monitor the signal strength any suggestions how to do this.
Presumably femon cant be used as I am using a network tuner.

I could add a periodic signal quality message to the backend log but the basic problem is that the Telestar does not report anything useful. According to the Sat>IP protocol documentation it can report a value of 0 to 15 and it always reports 15 here. Maybe the minisatip software gives meaningful results but I have not recently used that.

What you could do is look in the log at the status of each recording when it is finished. The continuity_error_count is a really good indicator and this should always be zero or close to zero. A simple shell script that does a "grep" for this in the log file should do the job.
