IR Blaster

Post by rlongfield »

I have a Pinnacle 800i which has a port for IR but I would prefer to use a USB IR Blaster to have myth (via Lirc I believe) change the channel on my Sat STB.
What are my options? Ebay and Amazon are a mess of options and when I google I get a bunch of results that are date with links to pages that don't exist anymore.

Thanks,

I've used the TIRA-2 for years. It's by far my favorite.

Are you using it on Linux? Their website says Lirc only support Receive mode currently.

Yes. I'm using the Tira-2 exclusively on Linux/MythTV to both receive and transmit. I just finished writing a MythTV Wiki page to help out. I have no clue why i can't post a link to the page on this forum, but if you:

- Go to the MythTV Wiki
- Go to the "HOWTO" hotlink
- Search for "IR Blaster and Direct Connect Cable Setup"

It should get you started.
