Remote use

Post by gcook12 »

We have a weekend property that we go to every few weeks and it does not have good TV coverage. I have been planning on setting up mythtv on an old desktop computer at my primary residence with an external harddrive for storage and take the harddrive and a laptop with me when we go. Are there any issues moving the harddrive to another computer assuming the file structure is set up the same?

Not at all. They're just video files. Just need a viewer program on the laptop.

If you've not seen it already you might also like to look at mythlink.pl as an indexing option.

Thanks. As a follow up question. I assume rather than run a dedicated desktop to capture programs I could just hang another external drive on my home front end/back end?
