Configure two HDHR devices (five tuners) with .30

Post by red192 » Thu Aug 01, 2019 4:37 am

I upgraded from .29 where I had a HDHR3-cc and HDHR-2US -- with three tuners configure for a comcast cable source and 2 configured for an over-the-air source.

Everything seems to work after the upgrade from .29 to .30 but the release notes make me think I need to re-configure somehow
With this change, each MythTV input is now configured to use one or more HDHomeRuns. When a
tuner is needed, MythTV will use the first free tuner from the configured set of HDHomeRuns.
Puzzling -- not sure how to configure multiple tuners for each input source -- unless I already have this correctly setup.

Can anyone help me get a better handle on this? Feeling kinda dumb.

You don't need to do anything, unless you want to reserve tuner(s) for some
other application. You'd remove, for example, one tuner from your existing two
pools so that some other application would have access to one HDHR3-cc and
one HDHR-2US tuner. The other application(s) would be responsible for locking
the tuners when they're in use. MythTV now locks tuners too.
