scanning for channels

Post by Peque »

Hi Forum
I've desidet to try upgrade to a new installation of MythTV
My Setup is build upon Debian Stable with 2 DVB-S7S2 USB tuners attached.

I have my running setup with Debian - running kernel 4.9 mythtv 0.29 - since this is a machine that been upgraded through time - w_scan works on this and finds channels.

But a new clean installation of Debian stable with Mythtv. 0.30 - doesn't give any channels at all - eventhough I can see its locked n transponder - but no channels are found - neither with w_scan than wit mythtv-setup
So if I can create a cannels.conf - where should this file be placed for MythTV to see it - and import it

Your new install may be missing the firmware/drivers for your tuners. Look at the firmware on the old install and see what's missing in the new install. Check to see what's being loaded. An example for my tuners.

Well - I do have installed the tuners and are normaling using these on my Mythtv 0.29 no problems with scanning.
I do not have a scanning neither through mythtg-setup or by w-scan - It'll lock the tuner etc - But do not scan any channels.

Then I did a scanning on my Mythtv 0.29 ( running same Linux/version/kernel) and are scanning without problems.
So I did a create a channels.conf - but in the GUI I cannot see the file open explorer - just a new blanxc window opening.
So what could be wrong here, since I did not have any problems with compiling mythtv from git.

Well - for trying something new - I dumped the DB - and loaded it on to my new build Mythtv. 0.30
Then I did a scan of all existing transponder - but again
019-05-01 18:15:05.554636 I ChanImport: No new channels to process

It did'nt find any at all - I cannot make it understand.
I Actually been thinking about building my own sat2IP box with my tuner instead - does anybody have done this trick already!
