Mythbuntu PPA 30 still gives "HERE BE DRAGONS" warning

Post by Manul » Mon Feb 04, 2019 4:04 pm

With MythTV 30.0 released, I would have expected this warning to go away. Is this an oversight or does the repo indeed not provide the stable/release version? In case of the latter, is there a repo that does or should I build from source?

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Hi,

I found this: https://launchpad.net/~mythbuntu/+archive/ubuntu/30
and suspect that's what you're referring to.

v30.0 is official from a MythTV perspective. It was released so that
when *buntu 19.04 is released, v30.1 will be available. I don't know
if any *buntu developers read this list, but expect the warning to go
away when v30.1 and 19.04 are released.

I noticed the same thing about the warning in the Mythbuntu 30 PPA, but decided to upgrade via the PPA anyway. I did it a week ago, and the wife and kids haven't complained yet. It seems to be a little quicker in the menus etc too. I'm on Xubuntu 18.04.

Thank you both for the clarification!

@bill6502: That's indeed what I was referring to. Since it's marked as "Suggested" on the Packages page (can't post the link), I had assumed it would always be up to date with the latest MythTV release. No problem though, I'll brave those perils for now. ;) I'm doing a fresh install anyway so I don't have anything to lose...
