Ubuntu 16.04 and USB Tuner

Post by shoeman » Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:03 pm

I have Ubuntu 16.04 and want to use mythtv for my local channels that we get via antenna.
As anyone had success doing this on ubuntu 16? If so what tuner did you use?

My only good option is getting a USB 2.0 tuner. I've been looking at getting one from Best Buy (hauppauge-wintv-dualhd-cordcutter-black) but they don't have many options.

But it appears the hauppauge dualHD version is not supported. According to the linux tv wiki wiki/index.php/ATSC_USB_devices

Any recommendations on a usb tuner?

Hopefully the mythtv /wiki/Installing_MythTV_on_Ubuntu install guide still works for the newest version.

I've been reading like crazy in forums and online and there are a TON of horror stories with people not being able to get it to work. Just wanted to find out some opinions before I put more money into it.

My long term goal is to get it working with kodi. But I should be able to do that part.

Thanks for any advice and tips!
