missing card type DVB-T/S/C in capture cards

Post by pvarman »

Hi - the wiki highlights various capture cards - and talks about devices that are supported by Linux-TV and should be supported by mythTV.

Specifically I want to select DVB-T/S/C cards, but it isn't possible to select this type of capture card in the add card menu. The wiki implies it should be possible.
see the https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Setup_Capture_Cards page

Is this type of card supported for this platform? I'm using v0.28.1pre-built download for on OSX (mythtv.28-0.28.1-Fixes-20170201_1). I have a usb tuner stick supported by linux-tv (a PCTV290e).

Thanks
Paul

Bad news I'm afraid

Limited Tuners
Most PCI video capture cards lack OSX drivers, so the Mac OS X backend does not support the majority of tuners listed as being supported by (the Linux version of) MythTV.

The HDHomeRun network tuner is well known to work using the Mac version of Myth backend. Recording via firewire from set top boxes such as the Motorola 6412 or Motorola DCT 6200 is also known to work. There are no current plans for additional hardware support.

HDPVRCapture on Mac describes how to use HDPVRCaputre to record on Mac OS X with a Hauppauge HDPVR
