Backend Linux Tuners on OSX Frontend?

Post by isimon »

Hi,

I just installed MythTV for OSX & it was nice to see it on my Mac. I should of done more research as I couldn't use the tuners on my Linux MythTV backend to run on my Mac's (via ethernet)... These aren't HD Homerun tuners. I have 1 Asus My Cinema U3000 & 4 Sony Play TV USB tuners. Are there any plans to allow such other tuners to be used on the OSX version?

TIA :geek:

Sorry, I'm not following you. If you are still running the backend on linux, the frontend on Mac OS X should be able to connect and access any recordings or videos. Live TV should work, too.

If you want to shut down the linux machine and go completely Mac, you are pretty much stuck with HDHomerun tuners. Myth accesses most other tuners via "VideoForLinux, V4L" and, as the name implies, it is Linux-only.

I've had success using Kodi as a MythTV frontend on OS X. Maybe give that a try.
