OS X Installer Updated-March 2015

Post by pvr4me »

New release with the latest 0.27-Fixes code. This is a relatively minor update picking up a handful of bug fixes over the past few months. If you haven't been experiencing issues, you don't need to update.

For new installs, this remains the easiest way to install a complete OS X-based MythTV system.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/macpor ... installer/

As usual, the installer provides everything for a self-contained Mac-based system:
-backend and MySQL
-frontend
-Perl, Python and PHP bindings
-MythWeb, for accessing and controlling your Myth system via a web browser
-all the support programs and packages to make everything 'just work'!

Cookbook-type instructions are at:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MacPorts

Enjoy!

Thanks again Craig for your excellent work. If you are upgrading from the October 2014 release do you simply stop the back end and run this over the top of the old installation? There doesn't seem to be any specific instructions otherwise.

That's right, stop the old version and apply over top.

Is there a correct procedure for uninstalling through the installer?

Why do you want to uninstall? Is there some problem we can help you fix?

Craig

I have the same question regarding uninstall process.

I have this (0.27.4) loaded (via installer) on the same mac mini as my plex server/pht.....pht is taking a performance hit since installing, so would like to remove and install mythtv on another box once procured.

I don't know what 'pht' is but Myth generally has a _very_ low CPU load unless you are transcoding or running commercial flagging.

You can use Activity Monitor to see which processes are using excessive amounts of CPU, disk throughput or memory.

If you wish, use Myth_Stop_Start to ensure the backend is stopped. Myth will then be complete inert and have no impact on your system performance.

I too run Plex Server on my MacMini which also runs Myth, and have noticed no performance hits. I don't run Plex Home Theater on it though, so PHT may eat up some cpu time, depending on the videos being played.
