Has anyone here played with the StreamMaster IPTV proxy? I am having issues with navigating the combination of the StreamMaster idiosyncrasies and the Mythtv ones.
StreamMaster is a relatively young project that is developing an IPTV streaming proxy. Basically you funnel all your m3u resources into it, filter and manipulate, and it then outputs a customized m3u resource that works better for your setup. For example, if you only want to watch 5 channels from Pluto TV. You can filter out the 100+ channels you do not use, and only pass through the ones you do watch. Or you want to bundle five unrelated streams into a single grouping. I am still new enough to IPTV that I am still climbing the learning curve to expertise, but StreamMaster seems to me to be a brilliant tool that has great potential for IPTV media users like I would expect to find Myth attractive.
The type of issues I am running into is I have the MythTV side configured to use it. I can get the channels detected properly, but I cannot get a full lock on them, only partial. Another issue is getting schedules direct to coordinate with the new channels. Basically I need someone who has worked the problems through, or wants to work the problems through with me.

Re: Mythtv and StreamMaster IPTV Proxy
Interesting! Especially the "virtual HDHomeRun" that is mentioned Physical HDHomeRun devices are used very often with MythTV so you might want to try that.
In the current master (pre-v35) there are many improvements in recording of IPTV streams, compared to the current v34. The v35 release is forthcoming but you can already try today's master.
About Schedules Direct, I also do not know how to use that with IPTV other than that there must be an xmltvid in each channel. For testing I use guide data from completely different channels but that is of course not good for actual use.

Re: Mythtv and StreamMaster IPTV Proxy
StreamMaster is an interesting project. It is adds a ton of flexibility to curating a IPTV setup. At the moment though, the pace of the development cycle is a bit dizzying. They are making huge strides, making it hard to learn in a rapidly changing environment.
I am glad to hear v35 is focusing on IPTV. I will likely wait for that before getting too involved in experimenting further. Is it too gauche to ask what the current release plan of v35 is? Are you on track for the typical February release, or are we talking Summer?

Re: Mythtv and StreamMaster IPTV Proxy
Source code for v35 is about now frozen as far as I know, so after a few weeks it should be available.
About the IPTV, I am currently looking at the channels that can be found here https://github.com/iptv-org/iptv/
Not all channels can be recorded; some are geoblocked and some use more features of rfc8216 than that are currently implemented but quite a few of the channels do play OK now.

Re: Mythtv and StreamMaster IPTV Proxy
Well, I guess we can turn the lights out (at least for now) on this discussion. The StreamMaster project imploded this week.

From my observation, someone forked the project, likely as an automated AI hack of some sort. I don't have the details, but that was the drama du jour on Discord the last day I checked in. I don't think it was dev burnout or intra-project drama, as the project seemed a single developer project and he seemed in good spirits. Hopefully this is just a tactical retreat of some sort and we will see the project back in some form.
