I have an intel nuc7pjyh with 3 TV sticks, an attached monitor, ubuntu, kodi and tvheadend. Tvheadend is the backend and delivers the tv stream for kodi, ans also can record tv movies and series.
Does the mythtv backend do the same?
does mythtv replace tvheadend?

Re: does mythtv replace tvheadend?
If you want to record only unencrypted channels, yes.
For encrypted channels, you need a CAM and a CI slot for each tuner, and the number of concurrent recordings per tuner is limited to 1.
MythTV does not encourage and does not provide other means for decrypting channels.
Otherwise, you can set up the tuners provided by tvheadend as an IPTV source for MythTV (*), but this requires some manual setup.

Small update:
MythTV does support concurrent recording of more than one program (multirec) for DVB tuners. The actual number of programs that can be decrypted simultaneously does depend on the CAM and the smartcard but two programs does always work in my experience. For encrypted channels, you need a CAM and a CI slot for each tuner, and the number of concurrent recordings per tuner is limited to 1.
