Support for Fedora fading

Post by dhighley »

Mythtv support for the Fedora platform seems to be dropping. With Fedora 35 there has been no audio for the front end application. So I had been able to use XSPF/M3U8/ASX and an external player but now there is no audio that way either the so the recordings are totally useless. Installation has numerous issues as well. Ended up using a crontask to update the Schedules direct channel data as the builtin function fails. I use the Rpmfusion build for Mythtv.

Are there no developers left for this application? Is this platform no longer of interest if there are developers? Why has the web replacement not been completed for setup and front end programs?

I'm not a Fedora user, but there are discussions on the mailing list. Try this:

I can see that there are MythTV build bots for F33, F34 and F35.

The devel/http branch for the future v32 is where the decoupling of UPnP has
been done. That's near completion and a prerequisite for the setup change.
In other words, it remains an active goal.

My production frontends are running Fedora 34 without any problems. I haven't yet tried updating any of them to Fedora 35.

I just upgraded one of my frontends to Fedora 35, and it appears to be working properly. I can play recordings, videos, and music, and look at images in the gallery. I am building from source, not using RPM Fusion.
