Remote backend no tuner question

I have access to a cottage that has great OTA reception and a working master backend.
I have no reception at my apartment and was wondering if I can set up a slave backend that just does local copies of recordings at my apartment. I'm not worried about the networking stuff at this point, just if I can have the backend setup like this, or should I just copy the files remotely and not worry about a backend?
