I have attempted to install MythTV using the manual instructions for installing on ubuntu including a recommended diversion into forum subject titled “How on earth do you get it working” (general.trouble shooting). I managed to get mythtv backend and mythtv frontend installed but I was under the impression that the database (MySQL) would also be installed based on my selection of the package that would install entire all parts on one machine. Shouldn’t I now be able to find it among the ubuntu software? I tried removing the backend and frontend so I could retry the installation but the front end will not remove. Is removing them nessessary? This is another problem. Can someone help me with these issues?

Re: Where is MySQL
Yes, entering the following commands in the terminal includes the installation of the database:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mythbuntu/30
sudo apt install mythtv
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mythbuntu/30
sudo apt install mythtv

Re: Where is MySQL
There is generally no need to be concerned about or do anything with the database. In addition to the helpful forum post you mentioned, there are example installation steps from myself here and from Jim A here. Which step are you getting stuck on?
