Some questions

Post by vsreeser »

Sorry, if this is covered elsewhere.
I will be installing Mythtv later this week, after I receive a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD, unless there is a better multi tuner model I should look into.
The machine will also act as a dlna server and a place to store backups.
Configuration 1 480 Gb ssd, 1 1 TB HDD, and 1 4 TB hdd. Not entirely sure best way to configure this. First thought is ssd for OS, 1 TB for home and dlna files, and 4Tb for tv recordings.
The other question is how to access the recorded tv from another room. The other tv has a Roku device and a PS3 connected. It is not a smart tv. Will I need to build another device to access recordings or can I just use the DLNA app in the Roku or add something to the ps3

Some helpful example installation steps can be found here for using an SSD for files other than recordings. The referenced blog post is for v29, but many of the steps are needed for v30 also if you are using *buntu.

Or Kodi can run a mythtv frontend.
