component and composite input with Hauppauge HDPVR

Hello all,

I have a Hauppauge HDPVR (model 1212) working with component input and rear audio. Currently it is the only "input" defined for this box. I am now in a situation where I would like to switch between component and composite (front side) inputs. Clearly I do not intend to record both at the same time, but I would like to be able to select at the "prefer ..." selection portion of mythfrontend for setting up recordings. As far as I have been able to determine with a lot of Google searching no-one has addressed this. It is too cumbersome to stop mythbackend, run mythtv-setup, and restart mythbackend.

So does anyone have this situation, and what are you doing to switch inputs on the HDPVR?

P.S. The comments about requiring a valid program in the "channel change" portion of the setup is vitally accurate. While changing some things with my MythTV 28 setup I misstyped the program name and HDPVR stopped working.
