v30 VDPAU With MPEG2?

Post by jamoody »

I see in the v30 Release Notes that it is dropping VDPAU support with H.265/HEVC. Playback Data during playback shows my Codec/Dec is MPEG-2 vdpau. Is MPEG-2 the same as H.265/HEVC? I am using an NVidia card. Am I going to lose VDPAU playback when I go to v30 (someday)? I find VDPAU provides a much smoother playback than other options on my 4K TV. I'm currently at v28.1.

Thanks for the link. From the link it appears that MPEG-2 (a.k.a. H.222/H.262) and H.265/HEVC are different so I assume that v30 will continue to support MPEG-2 with VDPAU.

VDPAU high quality, normal, and slim are still options in setup in v30.
